Dating Your Spouse After Marriage and Kids with John Kirk
SHOW NOTES: Episode 33
In today’s episode, I have my husband John back on the show as we talk about the importance of dating your spouse after marriage and kids. We share our own experiences and the value we find in setting aside that intentional time to connect with each other.
Dating, for us, isn't about fancy dinners or extravagant outings. It's about setting aside time to talk intentionally, and to enjoy each other's company. Sure, we may have to discuss some hard stuff occasionally, but the main value lies in the connection.
We've always prioritized these dates for our relationship to thrive. As our kids got older and we could leave them home alone, dating became easier. But, we laid the foundation for dating when it was harder to do so. Dating helps us navigate those challenges and grow together. We encourage you and your spouse to start somewhere and be dedicated and intentional about dating, even if it's not as frequent as once a week.
Open communication and compromise are key in a marriage. It’s important to set aside intentional time for connection and to really try to understand each other’s expectations and desires.
If you have never tried setting aside that intentional time to date your spouse, we encourage you to do that! I'd love to hear if this episode helped you. Send me a DM on Instagram @marandakirk or an email to ru@marandakirk.com!
