If You're Not Proactive, You're Reactive | Holiday Series

SHOW NOTES: Episode 40

I have another holiday series episode coming your way! Today, I am sharing more about being proactive versus reactive at family gatherings (or just in general!) I share the importance of taking responsibility for your own emotions and not expecting others to accommodate to you. Identifying our triggers and creating a plan to handle them is so important. Being proactive means identifying the people or situations that trigger negative reactions in us and coming up with a plan to handle them.

I can't stress enough the need for a proactive plan to break the habit of reacting negatively. It's about starting with small and manageable steps, such as practicing a simple response to a family member or coworker. Having a plan and being proactive is not just about managing our reactions, it's also key to having fulfilling relationships.

I also share a personal example on today’s episode on how I changed my reactive behavior to a proactive behavior as well.

I hope this episode is helpful to you as you navigate the holidays!
